Short Stay Residential School for Children

Keeping in mind that accessibility to education is a fundamental right to children, WORD NGO is running a residential school for children who have limited access to education with the family set up in Namakkal District as part of its blooming buds project. The residential school is being supported by Terre des Hommes, Netherlands from November 2007. The short stay residential home is situated in a beautiful ambience in Teachers Colony in Porasapalayam village in Namakkal which is just 15 minutes journey from Namakkal bus stand.

Terre des Hommes, Netherlands supports WORD for the construction of the residential home and the vocational training center. The building was inaugurated on November 23, 2009 by Mr. Lei Brouns, Regional Director- Terre des Hommes, Netherlands- South Asia in a glittering ceremony in the presence of Mr. Meru Miller, Program Officer, Terre des Hommes, Netherlands in India.

Currently 65 children are benefitting from our residential school. There are two teachers besides a warden to take care of the residential school.

We are so thankful to Mathagondappalli Model School in Hosur, SBM School in Namakkal and Government Primary School in Porasapalayam to support our educational mainstreaming of the children from this short stay home. 3 students from the residential school have got admission in Mathagondappalli Model School (MMS) in Hosur for Class III for the academic year 2011-2012. With this a total of 22 children from this short stay home, are studying in Mathgondappalli Model School.
