Project Mottukkal

With the funding support from Family Health International (FHI) and the technical support from CHES, WORD has implemented the comprehensive community based care and support project for the HIV/AIDS affected and infected children in Namakkal Taluk - Project Mottukkal from January 2004-September 2006. This project has been executed under the co-operative agreement of IMPACT between USAID and FHI. As this agreement has come to an end by September 2006, this project has also been ended with the financial assistance.

Considering the need and to render the services for the needy children, WORD has decided to carry forward this project with its own resources and greater community participation and contribution.

Till February 2007, Mottukkal project has reached 1292 children from 682 HIV/AIDS infected/ affected families through wide range of its outreach services of the project. Out of the 1284 children, 72 children are tested for HIV Positive (CIAs). Efforts have been made to cover these positive children under the Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS initiative with the partner ship with Catholic Relief Services.

WORD seeks good hearted philanthropic persons and supporting foundations around the globe, to support the needy children to live a happy and healthier life and make the family members to live in a conducive environment with greater hope and cheers in their lives.
