AD/IND/05/I49-Reducing
substance use related HIV vulnerability in female drug users
& female partners of male drug users
Recently WORD has got a short-term (24 weeks) project from
UNODC,
New Delhi to work for the following activities in particular
after the successful completion of Project H13 in Namakkal
District.
| 1. |
To
carry out a baseline situation assessment of vulnerability
and risk practices from 50 female partners of male drug
users, and 10 women drug users (preferably injecting
drug users) based on a set of questions prepared by
the project for purposes of data collection.

| 2. |
To
establish a minimum of 3-4 self help groups (SHGs) for
female partners of male drug users and women drug users
in the respective community/geographical area.
|
| 3. |
To
facilitate meetings of these SHGs on a weekly basis. |
| 4. |
To
educate the issues on drugs, relapse prevention and
recovery, co-dependency, sexual- reproductive health,
HIV/AIDS, Counselling, Life Skills, Parenting& Child
Care, Income Generation, Legal Rights/Literacy, Anonymous
Support Groups and Accessing to Support Services to
be covered during the weekly meetings.

WORD
has also got a project from UNODC
entitled, "IND/G86: Empowering communities for prevention
of drugs and HIV in India" to work in Namakkal. One day
induction training held for this project at Madurai on 21st
March, 2007 organized by MS
Chellamuthu Trust, the technical Support Agency for this
project.
