executed a one year project from 06.10.1997- 05.10.1998 on
HIV/AIDS intervention project on Truckers' between Perundurai
and Avinashi of NH-47 in Tamilnadu with the help of Tamilnadu
State AIDS Control Society (TNSACS). The intervention
took place at the road side restaurants. The important strategies
adopted for the project includes safer sex behaviours; video-shows
and interpersonal communication. The distribution of key lockets
consists of condoms are noted worthy among the target groups.
In the same period, the awareness program was also conducted
among school children. Through this project, the younger generations
felt the dangers about AIDS and understood the importance
of safe sex since this knowledge cannot be gained by them
either through theist curriculum or through their parents.
