Awareness
In
the year 1992, WORD focused its activities on the environmental
side. Pallipalayam is noted for the textile and power looms
industries in the textile map of India. Majority of the employees
in the industries were not aware of the environment awareness.
With the help of Royal Netherlands Embassy in New Delhi, a
project on environmental awareness camp organised for the
women working in the factories. Also, a vital attempt was
made on the evils of alcoholism. Extensive Counselling services
for the affected families and referrals were made to De-addiction
Centres.
In
the year 1993, with the support of Kurinji Network, Salem
a rally have been made amid the town and villages from Athur
and Pallipalayam emphasize the following:

Grow trees and protect the forest

Traditional system of culture, using natural fertilizers

The gas emitted from the factories to be recycled
.
- Environment
protection group should be formed with students,women and
common public and to create environmental awareness

To save Eastern Ghats.

The filters should be used to filter the gases emitted from
vehicles.
In the same year, a outreach program conducted on, "Waste
Management" with the support of Ministry of Environment,
Government of India.
In the year 1995, Environment awareness campaign held at the
villages around Pallipalayam area with the help of cultural
media campaign in co-ordination with Tharangani Orchestra.
Through this activity, the couple results were attained by
the PG students of Bishop Heber College, Trichy were made
to understand the most powerful aspects of this media through
which any programme will become successful at any time and
also the rural people made aware of the environment systems.
