CDM Project

WORD in Namakkal is one of the coalition member NGO of SCINDeA biogas Network to implement domestic bio gas CDM project in Namakkal District under the Clean Development Mechanism of the UNFCC under the Kyoto Protocol with the support of Fair Climate Network.

The CDM project aims to reduce fuel wood and kerosene usage and assist 5000 poor women in Namakkal District.

Updates

To gain the first hand experience and orientation, WORD team visited the Low Carbon Farming (LCF) project with BEST, Pudukkottai who has already been involved in this sector.

Formal orientation program was conducted for the staff of WORD at Bagepalli, Karnataka on 15 May 2011 along with other SCINDeA biogas coalition partners, which was facilitated by Mr. Ram Esteves, Director, ADATS and a follow-up training program was conducted on 23rd May 2011 which was facilitated by Mrs. Sudha, CDM Expert at Kengeri, Karnataka.

Ms.Sudha, CDM Specialist reviewed the field tested Biogas survey forms of WORD & other Coalition Partners @ WORD, Pallipalayam on 9 June 2011.

Mr. Mayank Gupta from Tech Team visited project site in Namakkal for a period of two days from 12-13 July 2011.

WORD attended the hands on training on tristle software solutions to manage CDM biogas project held at Bagepalli from 23rd-25th August 2011.

The field level survey to identify the end user families are in the progress now.
